Dante Extends Stay at OGC Nice for Final Season
Veteran Brazilian defender Dante, now 41 years old, has committed to another year with OGC Nice by signing a contract extension. This upcoming season is expected to be his last, as the player has publicly expressed his intention to hang up his boots at the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
Since joining Nice from Wolfsburg in 2016 for €2.5 million, Dante has become an integral part of the team’s lineup, defying age expectations. His impressive tally of 300 appearances for the French club includes numerous matches as captain, during which he has contributed eight goals and provided 11 assists.
Following some uncertainty, Dante extended his stay after the 2023/24 season ended. This time, there was no hesitation in securing his future with the club for another year. However, the Brazilian has made it clear that this will be his final season. In a statement to the press, the former Bayern Munich defender and Brazil international said, “If I play next year, it will definitely be my last season.”
This extension means Dante will complete a decade with Nice, marking his 10th and final season with the club. He hopes to conclude his career on a high note, potentially participating in European competitions as Nice currently holds the third position in the league, putting them on track for UEFA Champions League qualification.
