De Rossi Opens Up About Coaching Future and Ostiamare Investment
Former Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has made headlines by rescuing Ostiamare, a Serie D club, from financial collapse. During a press conference, De Rossi spoke about his decision to invest in the team where he began his football journey.
“It wasn’t a major sacrifice for me, although I was informed about some challenges,” De Rossi explained. “I’m not naive, and there are complex aspects to manage. I love football, Ostia, and Ostiamare, which I’ve always followed despite my career being far removed from this level. I can’t perform miracles, but the team should be a means to foster a sense of belonging to the city and bring us together as a community.”
Following his dismissal from Roma, De Rossi expressed his eagerness to return to coaching: “I’m disappointed not to be coaching, but this is the best time because I can spend a lot of time with players. I will continue to coach. Where? I don’t know yet.”
Addressing rumors about potential signings, De Rossi quashed speculation about Kevin Strootman joining Ostiamare: “A journalist called me saying he knew about Strootman’s arrival. But if I told him that, he’d laugh at me. I don’t think he’ll come to Serie D.”
Regarding Francesco Totti’s son, Cristian, De Rossi stated: “Cristian Totti? He’s enjoying himself in Olbia, I’ve spoken with Francesco. I’ll never be intrusive, I won’t bother the sporting director, and I won’t put anyone in a difficult position to sign a player I know.”
