De Rossi Takes Ownership of Childhood Club Ostiamare
In a heartfelt move, former AS Roma midfielder Daniele De Rossi has acquired majority ownership of Ostiamare, the football club where he first honed his skills as a young player. This decision comes after De Rossi’s brief stint as Roma’s manager ended abruptly in September, just eight months after replacing Jose Mourinho.
Ostiamare, currently competing in Serie D, holds a special place in De Rossi’s career. He played in the club’s youth academy until age 16-17 before joining Roma’s youth system. The ex-Italian international has maintained strong ties with the club throughout his professional career.
According to ANSA, De Rossi purchased the majority stake from former owner and president Roberto Di Paolo. Born in Ostia and deeply connected to the local team, De Rossi is set to become Ostiamare’s next president.
Alessandro Onorato, Rome’s Councilor for Sport, Tourism, Fashion, and Major Events, officially announced the acquisition. He expressed pride in facilitating this transition, describing it as a new chapter for Ostiamare and the entire 10th Municipality, where the Anco Marzio stadium and the club serve as vital sports and social hubs for thousands of families.
Currently, Ostiamare is facing challenges in Serie D, occupying the 14th position in Group E. One of De Rossi’s primary objectives as the new president will be to renovate the Anco Marzio stadium, which has been closed for several months due to safety concerns. While a decision on the facility is pending from Rome’s municipal authorities, De Rossi’s involvement could expedite the reopening process.
