Koni De Winter, AC Milan`s €20 million summer signing from Genoa, has opened up about his current situation at the club. Despite limited playing time so far, the 23-year-old defender remains optimistic and patient.
“I`m ambitious and want to become a regular starter, but I understand I need to earn that position,” De Winter explained in an interview with Belgian media. “I won`t make demands or complain. If I perform well when given the chance, I believe I`ll be rewarded with more opportunities.”
The young Belgian acknowledged the fierce competition for places at Milan, one of Europe`s most prestigious clubs. He cited the club`s rich history and star-studded past as major factors in his decision to join, despite interest from other top Italian and English teams.
De Winter also believes Milan got a good deal in signing him. “Considering today`s transfer market, I think Milan negotiated a fair price. Genoa was reasonable during negotiations, which helped finalize the deal quickly.”
When asked about his new teammates, De Winter had high praise for veteran midfielder Luka Modric. “Modric`s vision and understanding of the game are exceptional. He sees things differently and faster than anyone else. His humility and team-first attitude, despite his incredible achievements, set a great example for everyone.”
As De Winter continues to adapt to life at San Siro, he remains focused on improving and making the most of every opportunity. With patience and hard work, he hopes to become an integral part of AC Milan`s future success.
