Olympique Marseille secured a significant 2-0 victory against FC Nantes at the Stade Vélodrome on Sunday. This win propels Les Phocéens three points ahead of OGC Nice in the pursuit of Champions League qualification and marks a strong recovery from their previous 3-0 loss to Auxerre.
Marseille’s head coach, Roberto De Zerbi, expressed his pre-match apprehension, stating, “I was really dreading this match because I feared the effect of the defeat in Auxerre. But we deserved the win. We had a lot of chances, even if it wasn’t our best match at the Vélodrome.” Speaking at a press conference, he emphasized the importance of the game: “Yes, for me, it’s a game that can be decisive. But we didn’t win it by luck.”
De Zerbi further added, “We won because we did much more than our opponents. There are ten games left, and we can win them all with our heads, patience and intelligence more than anything else.”
Les Olympiens are now preparing for their upcoming challenge against Racing Club de Lens, followed by a trip to Paris to face Paris Saint-Germain in the highly anticipated Classique.
