Things go from bad to worse in Atalanta’s defense, already struggling with numerous absences. Just three days before the significant match against Juventus, scheduled for Sunday at 8:45 PM in Turin – a crucial game for both teams in their pursuit of the Scudetto – another defender is out.
In addition to Scalvini, Kossounou, and Hien, with Hien trying to recover at the last minute while training separately in Zingonia, coach Gasperini has now lost the recently acquired Stefan Posch.
The defender, who joined in January to address the defensive shortages, has suffered a muscle-tendon junction lesion in his left biceps femoris. Recovery time for this type of injury is typically around three weeks.
Posch will miss the Juventus match, as well as the equally important game against Inter. He is also doubtful for the fixture against Fiorentina.
The defense is now in a state of emergency. Djimsiti is one yellow card away from suspension and would miss the Inter game if booked. Besides the recently recovered Kolasinac, Gasperini will have to choose between Toloi and De Roon, who can be deployed in a defensive role.
