Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero has described the club`s 2024-25 season as “very unusual” while expressing hope for their Champions League qualification. The Turin giants currently occupy fourth place in Serie A, holding a slim one-point advantage over Roma with just one match remaining.
A victory against Venezia in their final fixture would secure Juventus a spot in next season`s Champions League. The club has faced numerous challenges this year, including a managerial change in March when Thiago Motta was replaced by former defender Igor Tudor.
Del Piero commented on the situation: “Juventus is in contention for Champions League qualification. This year has been quite extraordinary, with a bit of everything happening. It`s been very unusual.”
The former striker added, “From an emotional standpoint, I hope they win in Venice on Sunday or at least qualify for the Champions League. Being from Veneto, anything related to this region holds emotional significance for me.”
Roma and Lazio are also still in the running for Champions League spots, but they must win their respective matches and hope for a Juventus slip-up. Roma will face Torino away, while Lazio hosts Lecce at the Stadio Olimpico.
Del Piero concluded by highlighting the excitement of the final matchday: “A Sunday like this will stir the hearts of many people. Some will end up celebrating, and others won`t. It`s great because it makes everything so balanced, and it`s a positive thing for the entire football environment.”
