According to reports from Italy, Juventus has informed Douglas Luiz that he is not part of their plans for the 2025-26 season. The Brazilian midfielder has been advised to seek a new club following a disappointing debut season after his high-profile transfer from Aston Villa.
Since his €50 million move from Aston Villa last summer, the Brazil international has struggled to meet expectations. He played only 516 minutes across 19 Serie A appearances last season, averaging just 27 minutes per match.
The 27-year-old has already been linked with potential moves to various clubs this summer, including Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.
Juventus Urges Douglas Luiz to Find New Club
Sunday`s report from Calciomercato.com confirms that Juventus has notified Douglas Luiz that he is free to find a new club for the 2025-26 season. The club reportedly feels they cannot rely on the Brazilian based on his performance during his first Serie A season. The new coaching staff, led by Igor Tudor, has decided against giving him a `second chance`.
Calciomercato adds that Douglas Luiz will likely seek regular playing time to boost his chances of being included in Carlo Ancelotti`s Brazil squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America.
