Paulo Dybala was not included in Roma’s traveling squad for the Serie A match against Empoli on Sunday evening. However, it’s important to note that Dybala is not injured and is expected to return to the team soon.
Reason for Dybala’s Absence Against Empoli
According to reports from Corriere dello Sport, coach Claudio Ranieri decided to rest Dybala. This decision comes after Dybala played in three of Roma’s last four matches across all competitions. Ranieri previously used a similar approach with Leandro Paredes and Mats Hummels against Venezia in February, giving them rest as well.
With Dybala out of the squad, there is an opportunity for either Mathias Soule or Tommaso Baldanzi to start in his attacking midfielder role.

Besides Dybala, two other players are missing from Roma’s squad for the Empoli game. Gianluca Mancini is suspended due to accumulated yellow cards from the previous match against Como. This suspension could present an opportunity for Devyne Rensch, who joined in January, to start in the XI.
Zeki Celik is also unavailable for the Empoli match due to an injury sustained in the lead-up to the game.
