Reports indicate that Ed Woodward, formerly the CEO of Manchester United, is poised to join Eagle Football Group, the owners of the French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyonnais.
Eagle Football Group, which owns Lyon and has a minority stake in Crystal Palace, is preparing to be listed on the US Stock Exchange. To strengthen their organization ahead of this move, John Textor, the head of Eagle Football Group, is bringing in Woodward. Woodward departed Manchester United in 2022 after a 17-year tenure, having previously served as the club’s vice-president before becoming CEO.
Woodward’s role at Eagle Football Group would involve joining the administrative council. He is expected to manage the relationship between Eagle Football Group and Wall Street as the company plans to go public, potentially within the next two weeks.
