Elye Wahi Close to Joining Eintracht Frankfurt from Marseille

According to recent reports, 22-year-old French striker Elye Wahi is on the brink of transferring from Olympique de Marseille to Eintracht Frankfurt. The Bundesliga club is reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Marseille for the permanent transfer of the France U21 international.

Sources indicate that Wahi has already come to terms with Eintracht Frankfurt, potentially marking his third club in just two seasons. The young forward’s career has seen rapid progression, moving from Montpellier to RC Lens in a €30 million deal 18 months ago, before joining Marseille for a similar fee including performance-related bonuses.

Despite initial reluctance from Marseille to part with Wahi so soon after his arrival, Eintracht Frankfurt’s recent windfall from Omar Marmoush’s €80 million transfer to Manchester City has altered the landscape. The German club is keen to reinvest these funds to fill the void left by the prolific Egyptian striker.

It’s understood that Eintracht Frankfurt has tabled a bid close to the €25 million Marseille paid for Wahi last summer, prompting the French club to consider the sale. This development may now see Marseille enter the market in search of a new center-forward.

While at Marseille, Wahi has found playing time limited under Roberto De Zerbi’s management, scoring three goals and providing one assist in 13 appearances. The potential move to Frankfurt could offer the young striker more opportunities to showcase his talents in a new league.
