Empoli earned a crucial 2-1 victory over 10-man Parma to secure their first Serie A win since December, ending a 20-match winless streak. Goals from Jacopo Fazzini and Tino Anjorin were enough to overcome Milan Djuric`s equalizer for the visitors.
The hosts took an early lead through Fazzini`s smart finish from a corner routine in the 11th minute. Parma`s task was made much harder when Lautaro Valenti was sent off for two yellow cards after just 31 minutes.
Despite being a man down, Parma managed to equalize in the 73rd minute through Djuric`s header. However, Empoli responded brilliantly as substitute Anjorin curled in a superb winner from outside the box with just four minutes remaining.
The victory gives Empoli a vital boost in their fight against relegation, while Parma missed the chance to solidify their mid-table position. The result ends Empoli`s five-month wait for a league win, dating back to early December.
Empoli showed great character to overcome the setback of Parma`s equalizer and claim all three points. Anjorin`s moment of magic proved decisive as the hosts finally ended their long winless run in dramatic fashion.
