Espanyol has taken the first step to permanently acquire Alex Kral. According to Mateo Moretto, the club has decided to exercise the purchase option agreed with Union Berlin and has made an initial official offer to make his loan a permanent signing. However, there is still a hurdle to overcome: the player’s salary.
The midfielder, who belongs to Union Berlin, has fit in perfectly with Manolo González’s team, and his priority is to stay at the RCDE Stadium. If the parties cannot reach an agreement on everything, Kral will consider other options, although his preference is to stay in Spain.
Negotiations to finalize the operation will continue in the coming weeks, with Espanyol trying to work out the finances to secure the Czech player’s continuity without compromising their economy, which is still not in a position for large expenditures.
