Espanyol’s Plans for Alex Král and Miguel Rubio Clarified

Reliable transfer market insider, Matteo Moretto, spoke on ‘La Grada Ràdio’ today to detail the situation regarding Alex Král. It was revealed that Espanyol has taken the first step to permanently acquire the Czech midfielder. They have made an initial official offer to the player, who is currently on loan from Union Berlin. Espanyol has reportedly decided to exercise their purchase option. However, the main hurdle remains the player’s salary, a crucial aspect that the club must carefully manage to avoid financial strain. The key questions are: How far is Espanyol willing to go? Are there other options for Král? Moretto shed light on these issues.

The timing of this operation is somewhat surprising, as Alex Král is not currently at his peak performance, unlike his impressive form at the beginning of the season. Espanyol is fully aware of the fee required to secure Král permanently, and this is not considered an issue. They have reportedly informed Union Berlin of their intention to pay the agreed amount from last summer. To finalize the deal, an economic agreement must be reached with the player’s agent and Král himself. Espanyol has presented a long-term contract offer, for four years, to the player. The current sticking point is reaching an agreement on salary, including payment terms and other conditions. Negotiations are ongoing. Král has expressed his desire to stay, but an economically viable solution needs to be found. He prefers to remain in Spain, and Espanyol is his priority. Further meetings are expected. Another Spanish club of good standing has inquired about his situation, indicating Král has market interest, but he prefers to continue with Espanyol. The focus remains on resolving the salary issue through continued negotiation.

Moretto expanded on Javier de Haro’s exclusive report regarding Espanyol’s interest in Miguel Rubio, a central defender from Granada. He confirmed Espanyol’s interest in signing Rubio, stating that contacts and negotiations are underway. While it’s not a done deal as previously mentioned, it is a real possibility for Espanyol in the summer transfer window.
