Everton and Friedkin Group Explore Signing of Euro 2024 “Phenomenon”
According to reports from France, Everton have initiated contact with one of Euro 2024’s standout performers as they consider potential January transfer targets.
Despite an improvement in recent results, including draws against top teams like Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, Everton still find themselves in a precarious position just three points above the relegation zone. To secure their Premier League status, manager Sean Dyche and the Friedkin Group may look to strengthen the squad in the upcoming transfer window.
Among the rumored targets is Georges Mikautadze, the Georgian international striker who joint top-scored at Euro 2024. The Lyon forward has been in impressive form this season, netting seven goals across all competitions.
French outlet Foot Mercato reports that Everton, along with Galatasaray and Bayer Leverkusen, have made initial inquiries about Mikautadze’s availability. However, the player is said to be content at Lyon, with the club also reluctant to sell.
Mikautadze’s former manager Emilio Ferrera has described him as “a phenomenon,” praising his versatile finishing ability. The player himself has highlighted his prowess in dribbling, acceleration, and shooting as key strengths.
If Everton could secure Mikautadze’s services, he could potentially provide a significant boost to their attacking options. The Toffees currently rank as the second-lowest scoring team in the Premier League, making offensive reinforcements a priority.
