Everton Consider £20m Move for “Commanding” Defender

Everton are exploring the possibility of signing Genoa defender Koni De Winter for around £20-25 million this summer, according to recent reports. The Merseyside club have identified the 22-year-old Belgian as a potential target to strengthen their backline.

With uncertainty surrounding Jarrad Branthwaite’s future amid interest from top clubs, Everton manager David Moyes is keen to reinforce his defensive options. De Winter has caught the eye with his performances in Serie A, drawing praise for his commanding presence and aerial ability.

Standing at 6’3″, De Winter’s physicality could make him well-suited to the Premier League. Statistics show he ranks in the 93rd percentile for aerial duels won among defenders over the past year. The young center-back has also displayed a goal threat, placing in the 95th percentile for non-penalty goals.

Genoa are reportedly open to selling De Winter for the right price, which gives Everton hope of securing a deal. However, they face competition from other Premier League sides and European clubs for his signature.

Having recently broken into the Belgium national team, De Winter is regarded as one of his country’s most promising defensive talents. His acquisition could prove shrewd business for Everton as they look to shore up their backline for next season and beyond.

With Michael Keane’s contract expiring, bringing in De Winter would help refresh Everton’s defensive options. His commanding presence and potential for further development make him an intriguing target as the Toffees plan for the future.
