Fabregas Instrumental in Caqueret’s Transfer from Lyon to Como
Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Maxence Caqueret is on the verge of joining Italian side Como in a deal worth nearly €20 million, including bonuses. The 24-year-old French player is expected to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Serie A club.
Caqueret’s move to Como has been significantly influenced by former Arsenal and Barcelona star Cesc Fabregas, who now owns and manages the Italian club. Fabregas reportedly played a crucial role in convincing Caqueret to leave his hometown club.
The transfer will see Caqueret earning a substantial salary, estimated between €300,000 and €350,000 per week. This lucrative offer, combined with Fabregas’s persuasion, appears to have been decisive in the player’s decision to leave Lyon.
Caqueret’s departure from Lyon comes after he found himself lower in the midfield hierarchy following Pierre Sage’s appointment as head coach. The arrival of players like Corentin Tolisso, Nemanja Matic, Jordan Veretout, and Tanner Tessmann has limited Caqueret’s playing time, despite his contract with Lyon running until 2027.
This transfer marks a significant move for both Caqueret and Como, with the Italian club making a statement of intent by securing the services of the talented French midfielder.
