Fiorentina has officially signed defender Mattia Viti from OGC Nice on a loan deal with an option to buy. The young center-back, who previously played for Empoli, completed his medical examination and signed the contract today.
Expressing his excitement, Viti told reporters at the Viola Park training center, “When I learned of Fiorentina`s interest, I immediately informed my family. It seemed surreal. I adore Florence`s city center, where I grew up, and I`m eager to play at the Stadio Franchi.”
A Homecoming for Viti
Born in January 2002 in the Borgo San Lorenzo area of Florence, Viti developed his skills in Empoli`s youth academy. In 2022, he was transferred to OGC Nice for €13 million. He subsequently had loan spells with Sassuolo and Empoli before this latest move to Fiorentina.
The loan agreement includes an option for Fiorentina to purchase Viti for approximately €5 million, plus a 10% sell-on clause.
Fiorentina has been particularly active in the transfer market, also securing free agent Edin Dzeko and Viti`s former Empoli teammate Jacopo Fazzini.
