Fiorentina has officially announced the signing of Italy Under-21 international Jacopo Fazzini from Empoli. The transfer, reportedly worth €10 million plus bonuses, was finalized after Fazzini completed his medical examination and signed a five-year contract with the club.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who recently participated in the European Under-21 Championship with Italy, had attracted interest from other Serie A clubs including Torino and Bologna. However, Fiorentina moved swiftly to secure the talented youngster`s services.
Fazzini, a product of Empoli`s youth academy, made his top-flight debut at the age of 19. Despite facing some setbacks due to muscular injuries, he managed to make 22 appearances across Serie A and Coppa Italia last season, contributing six goals and one assist.
The creative midfielder`s performances were not enough to prevent Empoli`s relegation to Serie B, but his potential has clearly caught the eye of Fiorentina`s management. This transfer represents a significant investment in young Italian talent for the Florence-based club.
Fiorentina fans will be eager to see how Fazzini develops and contributes to the team`s midfield in the upcoming Serie A season. With his technical skills and goal-scoring ability, he could prove to be a valuable asset for the Viola in the years to come.
