Fiorentina Secures Italy International Fagioli from Juventus in Major Transfer
Fiorentina has officially announced the acquisition of Italy international midfielder Nicolo Fagioli from Juventus. The 23-year-old joins the Viola on an initial loan deal with a conditional obligation to make the transfer permanent.
According to reports, Fiorentina will pay Juventus €2.5 million for the loan, with an option to purchase Fagioli outright for €13.5 million plus €3 million in potential bonuses. This could bring the total cost of the transfer to €19 million if Fiorentina exercises the purchase option.
Fagioli expressed mixed emotions about the move, stating: “It’s bittersweet, as I’ve been with Juventus for over a decade and have strong ties to the club. However, I’m excited and focused on this new chapter with Fiorentina.” He also thanked Juventus fans for their support during challenging times.
The midfielder becomes Fiorentina’s sixth signing of the January transfer window, joining recent arrivals Nicolas Valentini, Michael Folorunsho, Pablo Mari, Nicolo Zaniolo, and Cher Ndour. Fagioli had also drawn interest from Marseille, but ultimately chose to remain in Italy with a move to Tuscany.
This high-profile transfer strengthens Fiorentina’s midfield options as they look to compete in Serie A and European competitions. For Juventus, it represents a significant outgoing move as they reshape their squad under manager Massimiliano Allegri.
