Former Bayern Munich Coach Niko Kovac Takes Charge of Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund has officially announced the appointment of Niko Kovac as their new head coach. The 53-year-old Croatian manager, who previously led Bayern Munich, has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026.
Kovac replaces Nuri Sahin, who had been managing the team since June. This change in leadership comes as Dortmund seeks to improve their current standing in the Bundesliga and their performance in European competitions.
Prior to joining Dortmund, Kovac’s most recent managerial position was at VfL Wolfsburg. His impressive coaching resume includes stints with AS Monaco, Bayern Munich, Eintracht Frankfurt, and the Croatian national team, showcasing his diverse experience in both club and international football.
Borussia Dortmund currently finds themselves in 11th place in the Bundesliga table after 19 rounds, having accumulated 26 points. The team also finished tenth in the Champions League group stage, which means they will compete in the play-off round of the tournament.
With Kovac’s appointment, Dortmund aims to revitalize their performance and climb up the league standings. The experienced coach’s tactical acumen and history of success with top clubs make him a promising choice for the Black and Yellows as they look to regain their competitive edge in German and European football.
