Former Russian footballer comments on compatriots playing in Europe
Alexander Mostovoi, a former player for Celta Vigo, has shared his thoughts on Russian footballers currently playing in European leagues. He expressed concern about their performance and health issues.
“At present, Russian footballers in Europe seem to be spending more time recovering from injuries than actually playing,” Mostovoi stated. “Zakharyan isn’t playing at all, while Golovin missed the start of the season due to injuries and is far from his best form this season. It appears they’re struggling to cope with the training intensity they’re subjected to.”
Currently, there are four Russian players in Europe’s top five leagues: Alexander Golovin (Monaco), Arsen Zakharyan (Real Sociedad), Matvey Safonov (PSG), and Daler Kuzyaev (Le Havre). Their performances and ability to adapt to the demanding European football environment continue to be closely watched by fans and experts alike.
