French Football League Announces Dual Summer Transfer Windows for 2024
The French Professional Football League (LFP) has revealed plans for two separate transfer windows during the summer of 2024. This unusual arrangement is primarily due to Paris Saint-Germain’s involvement in the inaugural FIFA Club World Cup.
PSG, as the sole Ligue 1 representative in the new tournament, will have an exclusive early transfer window from June 1st to June 10th. This brief period allows the club to strengthen its squad immediately after the Ligue 1 season ends and before the Club World Cup begins on June 14th.
Following this, a second transfer window will open for all Ligue 1 clubs, including PSG, from June 16th to September 1st, closing at 8:00 PM. This extended period gives teams ample time to conduct their transfer business for the upcoming season.
Additionally, the LFP has announced the dates for the winter transfer window of the 2025/26 season. Clubs will be able to make transfers from January 1st to February 2nd, 2026, with the window closing at 8:00 PM.
These carefully planned transfer windows aim to balance the needs of clubs participating in international tournaments with the broader interests of the league, ensuring fair competition and adequate preparation time for all teams.
