Fulham and Galatasaray Vie for AC Milan’s Emerson Royal in January Transfer Window
Premier League club Fulham has entered the race to acquire Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal from AC Milan, competing with Turkish giants Galatasaray for his signature this January. Despite only joining Milan last summer from Tottenham Hotspur, the 26-year-old defender may already be on the move again.
According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, both Fulham and Galatasaray are actively exploring options to secure Emerson’s services during the current transfer window. Milan appears open to parting ways with the Brazilian, as they are close to finalizing a deal for Manchester City’s Kyle Walker. Additionally, the Rossoneri already have Davide Calabria and Alessandro Florenzi in their squad for the right-back position.
It remains unclear whether Milan is looking to sell Emerson permanently or considering a loan deal for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. The uncertainty surrounding Calabria’s contract, which expires at the end of the current campaign, may influence Milan’s decision regarding Emerson’s future.
Since joining AC Milan, Emerson has made 25 appearances across various competitions, including Serie A, the Champions League, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana. Despite his regular involvement, the potential arrival of Kyle Walker and the presence of other right-back options have put Emerson’s future at the San Siro in doubt.
As the January transfer window progresses, it will be interesting to see whether Fulham or Galatasaray can secure Emerson Royal’s signature, providing the Brazilian defender with a new challenge for the second half of the season.
