Fulham Eyeing Reunion with “Exceptional” Former Player
Fulham are reportedly contemplating a last-minute transfer move to bring back Brazilian winger Willian, who previously impressed during his time at Craven Cottage. The 36-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Olympiacos earlier this month.
Manager Marco Silva is said to be keen on reuniting with Willian, having praised the player’s “exceptional quality” during his previous spell at Fulham in the 2022/23 season. Despite initial doubts about his ability to still perform at the Premier League level, Willian silenced critics with his influential displays.
While any potential deal would come very late in the transfer window, Fulham are not in a desperate situation given their strong form this season. The club currently sits in 9th place and is surprisingly in contention for European qualification.
Silva previously lauded Willian’s impact, stating: “He’s a class player with incredible quality. The way he created chances was very impressive. Players of his caliber can be decisive at any moment.”
Though in the twilight of his career, Willian’s experience and proven Premier League pedigree could provide a valuable boost to Fulham’s European ambitions. If a deal materializes, it may represent one final top-flight hurrah for the Brazilian before he hangs up his boots.
