Fulham Poised to Reunite with £44m Midfield Star
According to reporter Christian Falk, Fulham have a strong chance of re-signing midfielder Joao Palhinha from Bayern Munich this summer. The Portuguese international is expected to depart the German club after failing to establish himself in the starting lineup since his £44 million move last year.
Fulham manager Marco Silva is keen to bolster his squad as the team aims for European qualification next season. The club has identified targets in several key positions, including left-back Felix Agu from Werder Bremen and Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters at right-back.
In attack, Fulham are eyeing Panathinaikos striker Fotis Ioannidis and AC Milan forward Samuel Chukwueze. However, strengthening the midfield remains a priority, with Palhinha emerging as a prime target.
Falk revealed to BILD that Fulham are well-positioned to bring Palhinha back to Craven Cottage, though they may face competition from London rivals West Ham United. The 29-year-old is reportedly open to returning to England, where he previously excelled for Fulham.
Despite his struggles in the Bundesliga, Palhinha has continued to impress when given opportunities at Bayern. His defensive statistics rank highly among midfielders in Europe’s top leagues, particularly in tackles, blocks, and aerial duels won.
Fulham’s strong Premier League performance this season gives them an advantage over West Ham in the race for Palhinha’s signature. The potential reunion with Silva, who knows how to utilize the midfielder’s talents, could help Palhinha revitalize his career in familiar surroundings at Craven Cottage.
