Atalanta`s head coach Gian Piero Gasperini has voiced his apprehensions regarding the club`s future, highlighting the difficulties in sustaining their recent success. While affirming his contractual commitment to the team, Gasperini hinted at the unpredictable nature of football and the need for discussions with club management.
“We will soon meet with the club to talk about our plans,” Gasperini stated in an interview. “I am under contract with Atalanta, but as we all know, football can be unpredictable. The relationship between myself and the club is strong, so there won`t be any issues on that front.”
The 67-year-old manager expressed particular concern about maintaining Atalanta`s high standards: “Unlike previous years, I feel it will be challenging to replicate what we`ve achieved this season. That`s a worry for me – there`s no guarantee we can match this year`s accomplishments.”
When asked about the timing of his meeting with club officials, Gasperini responded, “We`ll meet as soon as possible to evaluate our options for the team`s future. Atalanta rightly needs to consider the budget, and there may be some player departures. We`ll have to see how many and which players might leave.”
Despite securing a third-place finish in Serie A, Gasperini refrained from dwelling on missed opportunities. “It`s been an incredibly demanding season,” he reflected. “Rather than focusing on points we may have dropped, I prefer to concentrate on the points we`ve earned.”
As Atalanta prepares for another season of European football, Gasperini`s comments suggest a period of transition and reassessment may be on the horizon for the Bergamo-based club.
