Gasperini Urges AS Roma to Make More Signings

Following AS Roma`s 1-0 friendly victory over Kaiserslautern, manager Gian Piero Gasperini expressed satisfaction with the team`s performance but emphasized the need for additional signings. “We can`t be hypocrites about the reality of our situation,” Gasperini stated.

The Italian coach praised the team`s developing identity and highlighted positive aspects of their play. However, he stressed that improvements are still needed, particularly in fitness and involving strikers more in attacking moves.

Gasperini was pleased with the performance of new loan signing Evan Ferguson from Brighton, noting his ability to press and create chances. “We need to get to know Evan better and take advantage of his skills,” he said. “There`s room for improvement in how we utilize our strikers.”

When asked about the number of new players needed, Gasperini replied, “Just look at who has left and who`s missing. It`s simple arithmetic.” He emphasized this was not an excuse, but the reality of Roma`s current squad situation.

While Roma have signed Ferguson, Neil El Aynaoui, and are close to finalizing Wesley`s transfer, Gasperini believes more reinforcements are necessary. “Coaches always want things done quickly, as pre-season is crucial,” he explained. “I hope we can realize what we have in mind, though I know these things take time.”

Gasperini concluded by expressing his desire to see the club`s and his vision for the team come to fruition, acknowledging the challenges of aligning transfer market moves with coaching preparations.
