Gerard Pique Denies Corruption Allegations in Court
Former Barcelona and Spain national team defender Gerard Pique appeared in court to address corruption allegations related to the transfer of hosting rights for the Spanish Super Cup to Saudi Arabia.
On March 14, Pique testified in court. His defense team maintains that all payments received by the agency were legal. At the conclusion of the hearing, the former footballer became emotional and stated that the case had caused significant damage to his reputation.
In 2019, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) signed a contract with Saudi Arabia to host the Spanish Super Cup. Pique’s agency, Kosmos, acted as an intermediary in the deal.
The former Spanish national team player faces accusations of receiving commission payments amounting to 4 million euros in connection with the contract.
Pique vehemently denies any wrongdoing and insists that all financial transactions were conducted in accordance with the law. The case continues to draw significant attention from the media and football community alike.
