Gimenez and Joao Felix Confident Following Milan’s Close Win
Santiago Gimenez has expressed his joy at scoring in his first two Serie A matches for AC Milan, describing it as a dream come true. Meanwhile, Joao Felix remains positive about the team’s chances against Feyenoord in their upcoming Champions League clash.
The Rossoneri struggled to break down a resilient Hellas Verona defense, despite the visitors’ poor defensive record this season. It took until the 75th minute for Milan to find the breakthrough, with Gimenez heading home from close range after Rafael Leao’s acrobatic assist.
Gimenez’s achievement puts him in elite company, joining Andriy Shevchenko and Christian Pulisic as only the third Milan player to score in each of his first two Serie A appearances in the three-points-for-a-win era.
“I’m thrilled. This is what I’ve always dreamed of,” Gimenez told reporters. “I’m in great form, and my teammates have been incredibly supportive. The whole team is delighted with the three points.”
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s crucial Champions League playoff second leg against his former club Feyenoord, Gimenez acknowledged the challenge but expressed confidence in Milan’s ability to perform on the big stage.
Joao Felix, on loan from Chelsea, also shared his optimism after the match. “We’re improving day by day,” he said. “If we show the same fighting spirit against Feyenoord as we did today, we’ll definitely win. We have more individual quality than them, and we can do it.”
Both players believe that Milan has what it takes to overturn the 1-0 deficit from the first leg and progress in the Champions League. With home advantage at San Siro and renewed confidence from their narrow victory over Verona, the Rossoneri will be aiming to deliver a strong performance in midweek.
