Gimenez Ruled Out of AC Milan’s Clash with Udinese

AC Milan’s Santiago Gimenez will not be available for the team’s away match against Udinese on Friday. The Mexican striker sustained an injury during Milan’s recent Serie A encounter with Fiorentina, forcing him to sit out the upcoming fixture.

Gimenez entered the Fiorentina game as a second-half substitute for Tammy Abraham, with Milan trailing by two goals. However, his appearance was cut short after just 25 minutes due to breathing difficulties following a collision with the goalkeeper.

While initial medical examinations did not reveal any severe injuries such as lesions or fractures, head coach Sergio Conceiçao has confirmed Gimenez’s absence for the match at the BluEnergy Stadium.

Conceiçao Confirms Gimenez’s Unavailability

“I can confirm that Santi will not be part of the squad for tomorrow’s match,” Conceiçao stated during Thursday’s pre-match press conference when questioned about Gimenez’s fitness.

Since joining Milan from Feyenoord in January, Gimenez has started six of his nine Serie A appearances. However, the striker is currently experiencing a goal drought, having failed to score in his last eight matches after a promising start to his Milan career.

Gimenez’s absence is not the only setback for Milan, as the team will also be without Kyle Walker. The Manchester City loanee recently underwent surgery for an elbow fracture, further depleting Milan’s options for the crucial match against Udinese.
