Guardiola Responds to Capello’s Criticism About His Impact on Football
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has responded to former Real Madrid and Russia national team coach Fabio Capello’s comments regarding his influence on football.
Capello had previously stated that the 54-year-old Spaniard has caused significant damage to football. According to Capello, many coaches have been imitating Guardiola’s style over the past decade, resulting in the game becoming boring.
“I listen to everything people say about me. Everything. So be careful!” Guardiola remarked. “This isn’t the first time Mr. Fabio Capello has said this. I’m not good enough to win in Italian football… A big hug to Fabio, a big hug!” Guardiola’s response was reported by City Xtra.
Guardiola has been at the helm of Manchester City since 2016. Prior to this, he managed Bayern Munich and Barcelona, achieving considerable success with both clubs.
The Spanish coach’s tactics and philosophy have undeniably influenced modern football, with many teams adopting a possession-based style of play. However, Guardiola’s achievements, including multiple league titles and Champions League victories, speak to the effectiveness of his approach.
Despite Capello’s criticism, Guardiola remains one of the most respected and successful managers in world football, continuing to innovate and adapt his tactics at Manchester City.
