Rennes manager Habib Beye has urged fans to be patient with the team, following displays of frustration during their narrow 1-0 victory over nine-man Stade de Reims. The home crowd at Roazhon Park voiced their annoyance as Rennes appeared to play cautiously at times, failing to capitalize on their numerical advantage to extend their lead.
Instead of pushing forward, Rennes adopted a more conservative approach, seemingly prioritizing securing the win against a Reims side that was not only down to nine men but also struggling for goals in their previous matches.
Beye, who took charge at the beginning of the month, sought to ease pressure on his players. He stated, “I’m not going to criticize my attackers for not scoring more against Reims.” He added, “The truth is we scored once and won. I truly believe this team is progressing, and progression is what matters most to me.”
Since Beye’s appointment, Rennes’ results have improved. They have won three of their last four matches, with their only defeat coming against Olympique de Marseille. Rennes are set to play Montpellier HSC away on Sunday.
