Habib Beye’s Future at Rennes Remains Uncertain
In late January, Habib Beye took charge of Stade Rennais, a team facing potential relegation. He replaced Jorge Sampaoli and signed a contract until the end of the Ligue 1 season, with an extension option based on specific conditions.
Under Beye’s leadership, Rennes has significantly improved their position, moving away from the relegation zone. With limited matches remaining, the team is likely to secure a mid-table finish, though European qualification seems out of reach.
One of the conditions for Beye’s contract renewal was ensuring Rennes’ survival in Ligue 1, which is now almost certain. However, when questioned about his future, Beye remained noncommittal, stating that he was not yet prepared to discuss the matter with club officials. He suggested that clarity would come on May 18th, the day after the season concludes.
Despite the uncertainty, Beye appears to have a positive outlook on the club. He described Rennes as an “exceptional club,” hinting at his potential desire to continue his tenure. For now, the focus remains on ending the challenging season on a high note.
As the season draws to a close, all eyes will be on the decision regarding Beye’s future at Stade Rennais, with both the manager and the club likely to evaluate their options carefully.
