High-earning Liverpool star may depart this summer as new manager’s plan falters
According to recent reports, Liverpool are now willing to let a highly-rated player leave the club during the upcoming transfer window. This news comes as manager Arne Slot’s strategy for the team appears to be encountering difficulties.
Liverpool’s summer transfer activity
After several quiet transfer windows at Anfield, this summer could potentially be the busiest in recent memory. Slot will need to bring in new talent to strengthen key areas of the squad, particularly at left-back and center-forward. The club has shown interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak.
There is also significant focus on the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, as none of these key players have yet signed new contracts. Additionally, Slot may not see a future at the club for Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota or Darwin Nunez.
World-class player set for Liverpool exit
Italian media outlet Calciomercato reports that Liverpool may allow Federico Chiesa to leave at the end of the season. The Italian winger has struggled to make an impact since joining from Juventus last summer. Napoli are reportedly interested in signing the £150,000-per-week player and are considered favorites to secure his signature.
Chiesa has seen very limited playing time in the Premier League this season, making just three brief substitute appearances totaling 25 minutes. He has failed to earn significant minutes even when other attacking players have been out of form.
Unless Chiesa can produce some impressive performances during the final stretch of the season, a summer departure seems increasingly likely. His time at Liverpool may ultimately be viewed as an unsuccessful gamble by the club.
