Stade Brestois manager Éric Roy is unhappy with the Ligue 1 schedule, especially considering their upcoming Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain.
Brest will play against AJ Auxerre in Ligue 1 on Friday, just three days after their first Champions League leg against PSG on Tuesday. Meanwhile, PSG will have an extra day of rest before their domestic game against Toulouse FC on February 15th.
Roy expressed his displeasure, stating it’s illogical not to schedule games on Saturday to allow for better recovery before league matches, especially with eight days between Champions League fixtures.
He emphasized the difficulty of playing a tough game against PSG and then Auxerre just three days later, deeming it disrespectful. Roy warned that if Brest is not respected, they will not respect others.
Brest had a busy January, playing seven games. Since January 11th, they haven’t had more than four days of rest between matches, competing in the Champions League, Ligue 1, and Coupe de France within a week.
PSG also played seven games last month with a maximum of four days rest since January 12th. Both teams are set to play each other three times this month, with PSG recently winning 5-2 in the league.
