Igor Tudor’s Right-Hand Man: Ivan Javorcic Joins Juventus Coaching Staff
As Igor Tudor prepares to take the helm at Juventus, following his stint as Andrea Pirlo’s assistant in 2020/21, he has selected Ivan Javorcic as his trusted deputy. The Croatian duo previously worked together at Lazio during the latter part of the previous season.
Born on January 24, 1979, in Split, Croatia, Ivan Javorcic has had a diverse career in football, both as a player and a coach. During his playing days, Javorcic primarily operated as a defensive midfielder, with significant experience in Italian football. He represented clubs such as Brescia, Crotone, and Treviso, among others. Outside of Italy, Javorcic played for Hajduk Split, where he also came through the youth ranks, and Mosor in his native Croatia.
Javorcic’s coaching journey began in 2009 with Brescia’s youth team. He gradually progressed through the ranks, eventually taking charge of Brescia’s first team in the 2014/15 season. His subsequent coaching roles included stints at Mantova in Lega Pro (2015-16), Pro Patria in Serie D (2017-2021), and Sudtirol in Serie C (2021-22), where he led the team to their historic first promotion to Serie B. Javorcic also had a brief four-month spell at Venezia in 2022 before joining Tudor’s staff at Lazio for the latter part of the 2023-24 season.
With this wealth of experience, Javorcic is poised to play a crucial role in Tudor’s coaching setup at Juventus, as the club aims to return to its winning ways in both domestic and European competitions.
