Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has urged his players to maintain their focus for their Coupe de France quarterfinal match against Saint-Brieuc, a fourth-division team. The game is scheduled for Wednesday at Rennes’ Roazhon Park, taking place a week before PSG’s highly anticipated Champions League round of 16 first leg against Premier League leaders Liverpool. Enrique is expected to rotate the squad for this match against the lower-league Brittany side, with potential starting roles for Matvey Safonov, Senny Mayulu, and Gonçalo Ramos.
“We need to be fully committed as we often witness underdogs achieving surprise victories. In football, a team can win a match with minimal attacking play,” Luis Enrique emphasized during his pre-match press conference.
The PSG coach referenced their previous Coupe de France fixtures as examples, stating, “Looking at our ties against Espaly and Le Mans, we had to really push, particularly against Espaly, so there’s no room for letting up. We anticipate a difficult game tomorrow.”
Saint-Brieuc will be aiming to create what would arguably be the biggest shock in Coupe de France history by defeating PSG. To reach this quarter-final stage, The Griffins have already overcome Le Havre and Nice.
