INEOS prepares bid for “promising talent” who could be Man Utd’s new Ibrahimovic
Manchester United are reportedly targeting a new striker to bolster their attacking options. According to Italian media, INEOS is preparing a £25 million bid for Inter Milan’s 19-year-old forward Francesco Pio Esposito.
Esposito is currently on loan at Serie B side Spezia, where he has impressed with 9 goals in 18 appearances. The 6’2″ striker has been compared to former United star Zlatan Ibrahimovic due to his physical presence and technical ability.
Talent scout Jacek Kulig described Esposito as a “big talent” with similarities to Ibrahimovic. The youngster averages 2.7 progressive passes, 7.1 touches in the opposition box, and 3.4 shots per 90 minutes in Serie B this season.
While Inter Milan are reluctant to sell, United view Esposito as a potential long-term solution to their striker issues. Current forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have struggled for consistency this season.
A move for Esposito would be a gamble on potential, but his impressive statistics and physical attributes suggest he could develop into a top striker. United may have to wait until summer to secure a deal, with Inter unlikely to sell in January.
If signed, Esposito could provide much-needed competition and quality to United’s forward line as they look to climb up the Premier League table in 2025. His arrival may also signal the end for the out-of-favor Zirkzee at Old Trafford.
