Inter Consider Roma and Fiorentina Players as Buchanan Replacements
Inter Milan are exploring options to replace Tajon Buchanan, who is expected to join Villarreal on loan for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. The deal includes a purchase option that could see Villarreal pay up to €14 million to make the move permanent.
Since joining Inter last January, Buchanan has struggled to secure regular playing time, particularly after suffering a fractured tibia in the summer. His departure leaves Inter in need of reinforcements.
According to reports, Inter are considering two affordable options in the January transfer window:
1. Nicola Zalewski (Roma)
The 23-year-old Polish player’s contract with Roma expires in five months. Zalewski’s versatility is appealing to Inter, as he can play as a full-back or winger on either flank. Roma has previously explored selling Zalewski but has not yet finalized a deal.
2. Cristiano Biraghi (Fiorentina)
The 32-year-old left-back is a former Inter youth academy product who has had three separate stints with the club’s first team. Biraghi’s contract with Fiorentina also expires at the end of the 2024-25 season. His lack of playing time under manager Raffaele Palladino this season could make him available for a low transfer fee.
Both Zalewski and Biraghi represent cost-effective options for Inter as they look to bolster their squad following Buchanan’s departure. The club will likely make a decision on which player to pursue in the coming days as the January transfer window progresses.
