Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has acknowledged that a decision is still pending regarding the left wing-back position for their upcoming Champions League match against Feyenoord. He mentioned that two of Inter’s central defenders are being considered to step in for Federico Dimarco, who is currently sidelined due to injury.
The Nerazzurri are facing a shortage of wing-backs, with Denzel Dumfries being the only fully fit player available on either side. Besides Dimarco, Carlos Augusto, Nicola Zalewski, and Matteo Darmian are also unavailable.
This situation necessitates Inzaghi to either adjust the team’s formation or choose a player who is not naturally a wing-back to occupy the left wing-back position for the Feyenoord game.

Initially, there were suggestions that Inter might switch from their usual 3-5-2 formation to a 4-4-2 to address Dimarco’s absence. However, recent reports indicate that sticking with a 3-5-2 formation, with a centre-back playing as a wing-back, is the more probable approach.
Two Options to Replace Dimarco
Reports leading up to the match suggest that Alessandro Bastoni, a left-footed defender who often partners with Dimarco on the left side, is the leading candidate to play at left wing-back on Wednesday. However, Inzaghi has also indicated that Francesco Acerbi is another viable option.

Inzaghi stated in a press conference that they are facing challenges in a specific area of the field, referencing the injuries to Dimarco, Zalewski, Carlos Augusto, and Darmian. He added that they lack players in that position and that either Bastoni or Acerbi will likely fill in. He assured that the team’s game plan will remain consistent as they prepare for the Champions League round of 16 match.
