Inter Finalizes Loan Deal: Buchanan Headed to Villarreal
Inter Milan has reportedly reached an agreement to send Canadian international Tajon Buchanan on loan to Spanish club Villarreal for the remainder of the season. The deal is said to include an option to buy for an undisclosed fee.
Buchanan, who joined Inter just a year ago in January 2024, has struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup. His progress was further hindered by a fractured tibia suffered while on international duty with Canada last summer, limiting his playing time this season.
The move to Villarreal is expected to provide Buchanan with more consistent first-team opportunities at a competitive level. The 25-year-old winger/wing-back had also attracted interest from Serie A clubs Monza, Torino, and Fiorentina, as well as Dutch giants Ajax.
This transfer could mark Inter’s first player movement of the January window, with the club also reportedly planning to loan out Tomas Palacios to Monza.
Buchanan’s time at Inter has been marked by inconsistency, partly due to injuries. The LaLiga stint offers him a chance to regain form and potentially secure a permanent move away from the Nerazzurri.
