Inzaghi Expresses Concern Over Inter’s Crowded Schedule
Inter Milan’s head coach Simone Inzaghi has voiced his concerns about the team’s packed schedule in the coming weeks. During a press conference before the Milan derby, Inzaghi addressed questions about the upcoming rescheduled match against Fiorentina.
“We’ve been informed that this was the earliest available date, and we’ll adapt and play as we always do,” Inzaghi stated. “I had hoped to have more time to work with the team in February, but it seems we won’t be able to provide adequate rest for the players. After 16 matches in two months, I would have liked to give the players a couple of days off, but that’s not possible. They’ll have to train continuously.”
Inzaghi’s frustration stems not only from the rescheduled Fiorentina match but also from the upcoming Coppa Italia quarter-final against Lazio on February 25th at San Siro. This fixture falls in the week leading up to a crucial league match against Napoli, managed by Antonio Conte, in what could be a pivotal encounter in the race for the Scudetto.
The Inter coach had anticipated a less congested schedule, especially given the team’s progression to the Champions League knockout stages. “Being among the top eight in the Champions League, we expected to have more time for focused training sessions, but that won’t be the case,” Inzaghi explained.
Inter now faces a challenging period with multiple important matches in quick succession, including two games against Fiorentina within a span of four days in early February. This tight scheduling presents a significant challenge for Inzaghi and his squad as they compete on multiple fronts.
