Inzaghi: Inter Must Concentrate on Bayern Performance, Not Result

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has stressed that his team must focus on replicating their strong performance from the first leg against Bayern Munich, rather than dwelling on the 2-1 advantage they hold heading into the Champions League quarter-final second leg at San Siro.

Inzaghi acknowledged the difficulty of the task ahead, stating: “We know tomorrow will be extremely challenging. We need to forget about the first leg result, but remember how well we played in Munich. We’ll need another great performance with the right attitude, aggression and work rate.”

The Inter boss highlighted the quality of their opponents, noting that Bayern have numerous talented players who could pose a threat even with some key absences. He emphasized the need for his team to maintain their intensity and focus throughout the match.

Inzaghi also touched on the demanding schedule Inter have faced this season, competing on multiple fronts: “Playing every few days takes its toll. The new Champions League format has required additional energy and focus compared to last year.”

When asked about potential areas for improvement from the first leg, Inzaghi mentioned: “We could have been more aggressive at times when out of possession, and a bit more clinical when we broke through their pressure. But overall, the players were excellent.”

The coach revealed that the team has been practicing penalties in preparation for a potential shootout, acknowledging the importance of being ready for all scenarios in knockout competitions.

As Inter aim to secure a place in the Champions League semi-finals, Inzaghi’s message is clear – they must approach the second leg with the same intensity and quality that earned them their first-leg advantage, regardless of the scoreline.
