Just a day before the Champions League final, rumors are swirling that Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi could be headed to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, despite his recent statements about wanting to remain at Inter.
According to reports from Footmercato, Inzaghi has already given his word to sign with Al-Hilal after this season ends, in a deal reportedly worth €30 million per year in wages.
This news comes as Inter prepares to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Munich on Saturday. The timing has shifted focus away from Inter`s chance at European glory and onto speculation about their coach`s future.
When asked about the rumors, Inzaghi attempted to reassure fans, telling Sky Sport Italia: “I`ve said many times that I`m happy at this club. I have everything I need here to do well and continue achieving success.”
He added at a press conference: “We have a Champions League final tomorrow. From Monday, we`ll meet and calmly discuss what`s best for Inter.”
Since taking over in 2021, Inzaghi has led Inter to one Serie A title, two Coppa Italia trophies, three Italian Super Cups, and two Champions League finals. His success has clearly caught the eye of deep-pocketed suitors like Al-Hilal.
For now, Inzaghi and Inter remain focused on Saturday`s final. But once the dust settles from that monumental match, all eyes will be on the coach`s next move and whether he chooses to remain in Milan or cash in on a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.
