Inzaghi’s Frustration: “We Must Step Up Our Game in Key Matches”
Inter Milan suffered a setback in their Serie A campaign, losing to Juventus in the 25th round match at the Allianz Stadium. The decisive goal came from Francisco Conceicao in the second half, preventing Inter from overtaking Napoli at the top of the league table.
Following the match, a visibly disappointed Simone Inzaghi, Inter’s head coach, shared his thoughts on the team’s performance:
“There’s immense disappointment. Our players showed courage and created chances, but we needed to be more clinical in finishing. We should have ended the first half ahead. Our approach in the second half wasn’t as strong, and Conceicao’s goal came when we were trying to regain our footing. We can’t make grand statements because our current efforts aren’t sufficient for our objectives.”
Addressing the tactical changes made during the game, Inzaghi explained, “In the second half, we weren’t performing as well as in the first. Juventus improved, becoming more aggressive, while we lost our fluidity. We’ve now lost two away games in a row, but this match was entirely different from the one in Florence. We need to elevate our performance, especially in crucial matches.”
When questioned about the team’s decision-making in the final third, Inzaghi admitted, “We must improve. We created opportunities but faltered at the last moment. In my nine years of coaching here in Turin, we’ve never generated so many chances. This defeat hurts, and it should motivate us to work harder and better. We’re still in contention, but we need to change our pace, particularly in key games.”
Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Napoli, Inzaghi stated, “It will be another important game, similar to tonight’s against Juventus. However, we have matches against Genoa and Lazio before that. In two weeks, we’ll face a crucial match against our main competitor. We’ll strive to perform better than we did tonight.”
