Ipswich Town Eyeing Summer Move for “Excellent” £12m Defender

Ipswich Town is reportedly showing interest in acquiring Millwall defender Japhet Tanganga during the upcoming summer transfer window. The 25-year-old has been making waves in the Championship this season with his impressive performances.

Despite their ongoing battle against relegation from the Premier League, Ipswich is already planning ahead for potential reinforcements. The club’s recent 1-1 draw against Aston Villa, where they managed to secure a point despite playing with 10 men, has boosted their confidence in their fight for survival.

However, Ipswich may face stiff competition for Tanganga’s signature. Other clubs reportedly interested include Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, and Southampton. Premier League scouts are expected to closely monitor the defender during Millwall’s FA Cup match against Crystal Palace next month.

In January, Millwall set a £12m asking price for Tanganga, successfully warding off potential suitors. It remains unclear whether this valuation will change for the summer transfer window.

Tanganga: A Potential “Excellent” Addition

Regardless of which division Ipswich finds themselves in next season, Tanganga could prove to be a valuable asset. His Premier League experience combined with his stellar performances in the Championship make him an attractive prospect.

According to Sofascore, Tanganga boasts the highest average match rating (7.18) in the Millwall squad this season. He has become a key player for the team, making 29 appearances in the Championship so far.

Former Millwall manager Neil Harris praised Tanganga earlier this season, stating: “He’s a Premier League player all day long, we all know that. We want him on the pitch every week and he knows his place in the team. I know what he’s excellent at, which is pretty much everything.”

Ipswich Town’s interest in Tanganga is a positive development for the club. They would do well to continue monitoring his performances for the remainder of the season as they prepare for a potential summer move.
