Ismaël Bennacer Joins Marseille on Loan from AC Milan
AC Milan has announced the temporary transfer of midfielder Ismaël Bennacer to Olympique de Marseille. The 27-year-old Algerian international moves to the French club on a loan deal with an option for a permanent transfer.
While the exact financial terms remain undisclosed, reports indicate that Marseille has paid a €1 million loan fee. The club also has the opportunity to make the transfer permanent for an additional €12 million, with potential bonuses of up to €3 million.
Marseille had been seeking to bolster their midfield options following the loan departure of Ismaël Koné to Stade Rennais. After initially showing interest in Juventus player Nicoló Fagioli, the club ultimately turned their attention to Bennacer, whom they had previously pursued during the summer transfer window.
Bennacer’s playing time at Milan this season has been severely limited due to a calf injury sustained at the beginning of the campaign. As a result, he has only made eight appearances across all competitions, with just six of those coming in Serie A matches. Marseille revived their interest in the player towards the end of the transfer window, and Bennacer was eager to make the move to the Stade Vélodrome.
