Israeli Talent Oscar Gloukh Declined Marseille Move Due to Security Concerns
In a recent interview, Maxim Gloukh, father of 20-year-old Israeli football prodigy Oscar Gloukh, disclosed that his son had the opportunity to join Olympique de Marseille during the January transfer window. However, the young talent opted against the move due to safety concerns.
Oscar Gloukh, who has been making waves at Red Bull Salzburg since his €7 million transfer from Maccabi Tel Aviv in January 2023, has become an integral part of the Austrian team. This season alone, he has contributed 10 goals and 6 assists across 33 appearances, including 8 matches in the prestigious UEFA Champions League.
Despite interest from Marseille, currently second in Ligue 1, Gloukh’s father revealed that the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas played a significant role in the decision-making process. “Marseille is an excellent club, but the current situation raised certain fears. I was concerned about him signing there,” Maxim Gloukh explained.
The young midfielder, who has already earned 18 caps for the Israeli national team and scored 3 goals, ultimately decided to continue his development with Red Bull Salzburg. This decision allows him to further hone his skills in a familiar environment while maintaining his impressive form on both domestic and international stages.
