Italian Club Bids for Chelsea Midfielder Looking to Depart
According to reports, Torino has made an offer to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei this January transfer window. The young Italian player is eager to leave Stamford Bridge after struggling for playing time.
Gianluca di Marzio reports that Torino has submitted a €12 million bid plus a percentage of any future sale for Casadei. Chelsea has countered by asking for €20 million along with a favorable buy-back clause.
Casadei, who earns £390,000 per year at Chelsea, is said to have already agreed to the move and given priority to joining Torino. The Italian club is his preferred destination as he looks to reignite his career with more regular playing time.
The two clubs are expected to continue negotiations in the coming days, with hopes of reaching a compromise on the transfer fee and terms. Chelsea signed Casadei from Inter Milan for an initial £12.6 million in 2022, so they stand to make a profit on the 21-year-old midfielder.
With his contract at Chelsea running until 2028, a permanent move away could benefit both the player and club if an agreement can be reached. Further talks between Chelsea and Torino are scheduled for this week as they try to finalize a deal before the January window closes.
